We are currently taking part in the Rotary Rural Schools Photo Competition, with our tamariki exploring photography and creativity through this year’s themes of bolts and bubbles. Students have been learning about angles, lighting, focus and composition while capturing some incredibly artistic and imaginative photos. It has been awesome seeing our tamariki view the world through a creative lens!

Our tamariki marked ANZAC Day with a special commemorative assembly, honouring those who served. Students created wreaths, medals and poppies. Our senior tamariki researched local and whānau members who went to war, sharing their names, service numbers and stories with the school. It was wonderful to have so many whānau join us to remember our fallen heroes, followed by a shared morning tea. A beautiful and respectful way to honour and reflect.

Our tamariki enjoyed taking part in Winter Sports, an event that brings together schools from across Whangārei to build sportsmanship and whanaungatanga. Our students participated in rippa rugby, while other kura took part in activities such as netball, table tennis, and basketball. It was a fantastic day of teamwork, friendly competition, and connecting with other schools.

Our tamariki had a fantastic time celebrating Easter, taking part in creative crafts where they made their own baskets before heading off on an exciting Easter egg hunt to fill them. Some even came dressed in their best Easter-themed outfits, adding to the fun atmosphere. It was a wonderful way to finish the term on a high!
