A very warm welcome to all visitors to our site.
Te Horo School is a small rural school 40 minutes from Whangarei. The tamariki of our school are valued and supported so that they feel part of a whanau. We have a skilled and passionate staff who providing quality learning experiences for children.
Our programmes emphasise the development of strong literacy and numeracy skills and foster links to Te Ao Maori. Exploration, collaboration and cooperative learning are encouraged to expose children to a range of learning approaches. We are developing our curriculum so that children’s learning is based around authentic local contexts and real world topics.
Our school motto and vision for our students is ‘Moemoetia te moemoea, engari whakatinanahia, Making our dreams a reality’. This vision is underpinned by our values system: Respect, Readiness, Resilience.
It is a privilege to be involved in a school which has high expectations for children’s achievement and behaviour, is staffed by dedicated teachers and supported by a committed and capable Board of Trustees.
I value school and home partnerships and look forward to your involvement with Te Horo School.
Nga mihi mahana
The first day for 2016 is Tuesday 2nd February.
Te Horo School places a high value on attendance at school. Continuous absence seriously affects children’s learning. Poor attendance results in poor progress.
If your child is to be absent from school for any reason please let the office know at the earliest possible time.
Please leave a message on the answer phone 4386453. Also, you can email Margaret on email@example.com.
A member of staff will phone you if we have not been advised of your child’s absence.
We monitor the attendance of those few children who are frequently absent or late to school. Parents are contacted when either of these becomes a problem, and we may advise the Truancy Office.
